RECORDING DOCUMENTS

  • Does the person who signed a document have to be present in order to record it, or can someone else bring the original to the clerk's office and pay for it to be recorded without them?
  • Our office is going to send in a Special Warranty Deed to be filed so I need to make sure I have the filing fees correct. On your website the filing fees are $25.00 but it did not point out any stipulations about the deed.
  • I was hoping you could tell me who is authorized to record documents against a property? I see that the document must have the original signature, and have the notary's original signature, but whose original signature (for the first signature)?
  • Can you give an example(s) of what is (un)acceptable on a document?
  • What is required to record a plat?
  • Do you accept multiple or "blanket" assignments or releases for recording?
  • What is the procedure to record a lien?
  • How much does it cost to record a document?
  • Will you accept a certified copy of a document for recording?
  • Who is responsible for notifying the Santa Fe County Assessor of a transfer of ownership of property?
  • What type of deed should I use to transfer property?
  • How do I record a document?
