A. Bring the document to our office (request an appointment first*).
B. Mail the document to our office (PO Box 1985, Santa Fe, NM 87504 - FedEx or UPS
needs to be 100 Catron Street, etc. Suggest certified mail with tracking number)
i. Enclose a check for the fee* (Insert fee structure?) and a self-addressed stamped
envelope. *Confirm fee via office over the phone.

C. Leave it in the drop box (Insert photo of drop box outside of building)
i. Include a check for the fee and a self-addressed stamped envelope or contact
information. We will return the original to you with our recording information on it. (Update procedure?)
D. The document must meet the following requirements:
i. It must be an original document or a court certified copy of the original
document
1. Judgements, change of name, anything issued by district court*;
ii. It must have a title ("Mortgage," "Warranty Deed," etc.);
iii. It must be notarized (NMSA 14-8-4);
1. It must have a clear, legible notary stamp (not so light as to be illegible, nor smeared, nor stamped over text) that is correctly filled out and signed;
2. It must include the state and county in which it was notarized;
3. It must be signed by the notary public and include the name of the
person who signed it;
4.
It must include the date on which it was signed must be included.;
5. *Add language with regard to new notary stamp requirements through
SOS.*

iv. If a legal description or other documentation is referenced in the document to
be recorded (usually as an "Exhibit A"), it must have an exhibit attached.
1. The legal description should state that the property is in Santa Fe
County. If it is in another county we will not refuse service, but we will bring it to your attention because it should be recorded in the county the property is physically located.
